Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Removes certain references to the provision of medical direction by a licensee under the Act to a licensed advanced practice nurse from the list of grounds for disciplinary action under the Act.
Appropriates $6,000,000 from the General Revenue Fund to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity for a grant to the Museum of Broadcast Communications for construction expenses. Effective July 1, 2007.
Amends the Nurse Practice Act. Provides for the licensure of a registered professional nurse as a certified registered nurse anesthetist who does not have the required graduate degree, provided that he or she meets certain other requirements. Requires the Department to provide by rule for the advanced practice nurse licensure of certified registered nurse anesthetists who do not have the required graduate degree, apply for licensure before July 1, 2018, and meet certain other requirements. Effective immediately.
Amends the Medical Practice Act of 1987. Allows a physician to delegate the operation of an intense pulsed light system for the purpose of epilation, photorejuvenation, or other non-medical cosmetic procedures to a physician assistant, advanced practice nurse, registered nurse, or other personnel. Effective immediately.
Amends that Acupuncture Practice Act. Allows an invited guest acupuncturist from another state or country to engage in professional education if he or she is currently licensed in another state or country and has an active, undisciplined license, or he or she is currently certified in good standing as an acupuncturist by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (instead of requiring both components).
Amends the Chicago Teacher Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that the Board of Education shall demand and direct and the city council of the city shall levy a tax of 0.1% annually upon all taxable property in the city. Provides that revenues derived from the tax shall be paid to the city treasurer of the city as collected and held by him or her for the benefit of the Public School Teachers' Pension and Retirement Fund of Chicago. Amends the State Mandates Act to require implementation without reimbursement. Effective immediately.
Creates the Registered Medical Transcriptionist Act. Provides for the registration of medical transcriptionists by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Grants rulemaking authority to the Department. Amends the Regulatory Sunset Act to provide for the repeal of the Registered Medical Transcriptionist Act on January 1, 2018.
