RELATING TO SENTENCING.

Maddy summarySB 778 prohibits sentencing individuals aged 18-25 to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for any offense. This bill directly affects young adult defendants in the criminal justice system who would otherwise face life without parole sentences. Instead of allowing life without parole, the law requires that such defendants receive a life sentence with the possibility of parole after a set period.
