RELATING TO GENERAL EXCISE TAX EXEMPTIONS.

Provides a general excise tax exemption for the gross proceeds or income arising from the manufacture, production, packaging, and sale of select healthy foods in the State. (HB1502 HD1)

RELATING TO MARINE LIFE CONSERVATION.

Prohibits the use or application of sunscreen or sunblock containing oxybenzone or cosmetics with sunscreen containing oxybenzone while in a marine life conservation district.

RELATING TO CHILD CARE PROVIDERS.

Requires all child care providers to obtain and maintain liability insurance as a condition of licensure, temporary permission, or registration and disclosure of insurance-related information to certain parents or guardians. Requires the Department of Human Services to submit a report to the Legislature prior to the 2018 Regular Session. (HB674 CD1)

RELATING TO IDENTIFICATION.

Requires the Department of Public Safety, in collaboration with various agencies and upon request of the inmates, to issue civil identification cards to inmates and to assist inmates in obtaining the inmates' birth certificate, social security card, and other relevant identification necessary for successful reentry into society. Requires the Department of Public Safety to initiate the process of assisting inmates released to work furlough, extended furlough, or community placement programs at least ninety days prior to the inmates' release. RELATING TO TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Makes certain sections of the Code of Ethics inapplicable to technology transfer activities sponsored by University of Hawaii if the activities comply with the regulatory framework and research compliance program approved by the Board of Regents. Requires the Board of Regents to submit written status reports to the Legislature every year. Repeals on June 30, 2022. (HB425 CD1)

RELATING TO CEMETERIES.

Limits liability for persons maintaining or repairing cemetery grounds. Requires the director of commerce and consumer affairs, in consultation with the comptroller, to develop strategies for repair and maintenance of Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City, Oahu. Requires report to Legislature. Takes effect 1/7/2059. (SD2)
