This measure would designate February 21, 2018, and the 3rd Wednesday in February of each year thereafter, as California Ports Day.
This measure would proclaim February 2018 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and would encourage all Californians to observe Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month with programs and activities that raise awareness about teen dating violence.
This measure would declare February 19, 2018, as a Day of Remembrance in order to increase public awareness of the events surrounding the incarceration of Americans of Japanese ancestry during World War II.
The California Coastal Act of 1976 establishes the California Coastal Commission and prescribes the membership, and functions, and duties of the commission with regard to the regulation and protection of coastal resources. The act specifies that after a port master plan for the port of Hueneme, Long Beach, Los Angeles, or San Diego Unified Port District located within the coastal zone, as provided, is certified by the commission, the permit authority of the commission is thereafter delegated to the appropriate port governing body, except as specified. Existing law requires certain cities and counties to incorporate the master plan in its local coastal program. This bill would additionally apply this port master plan provision to the Port of Newport Beach located within the coastal zone, except as provided. By imposing duties on local officials, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to the statutory provisions noted above.
This measure would express the Legislature's support for reinvesting revenues and cost savings from the closure and sale, lease, or repurposing of developmental centers into the community of persons with developmental disabilities, including through creation of a self-sustaining income mechanism to support persons with developmental disabilities and the establishment of a working group to examine the potential sale, lease, or repurposing of developmental center properties. The measure would express the Legislature's intent that all savings from the developmental centers should be allocated for the support of persons with developmental disabilities, as specified.
This measure would proclaim January 26, 2018, as India Republic Day, and would urge all Californians to join in celebrating India Republic Day.
This measure would declare February 2018 as American Heart Month and would declare February 2, 2018, as Wear Red Day in California.
This measure would proclaim January 30, 2018, as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy Awareness Day and would recognize the efforts of advocacy organizations like the Faces of CTE in educating the public about the causes and dangers of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and supporting the victims of the disease.
