School curriculum: model curriculum standards: career technical education: California Career Resource Network Program.

Existing law establishes the California Career Resource Network in the State Department of Education for the purpose of providing career development information and resources to people in California in order to enable them to reach their career goals, as provided. Existing law requires the Superintendent of Public Instruction to coordinate the development, on a cyclical basis, of model curriculum standards for a career technical education course of study. Existing law requires the Superintendent, to the extent applicable, to incorporate the integration of career technical and academic education into the development of those curriculum standards. Existing law requires those curriculum standards to be adopted no later than June 1, 2005. This bill would specify that the integration of career technical and academic education into the development of those curriculum standards includes online career guidance tools such as the California Career Resource Network, and would require the Superintendent to incorporate the online career guidance tools such as the California Career Resource Network into those curriculum standards during the next update of the curriculum standards on or after January 1, 2019.
