This measure would proclaim the Legislature's support for California State Parks Week, observed the days of June 12, 2024, to June 16, 2024, inclusive, and provide that the Legislature encourages all Californians and visitors to the state to cherish, protect, enjoy, and find inspiration in the diverse holdings within the state park system.

This measure would recognize June 19, 2024, as Juneteenth and would urge the people of California to join in celebrating Juneteenth as a day to honor and reflect on the significant role that African Americans have played in the history of the United States and how they have enriched society through their steadfast commitment to promoting unity and equality.
This measure would request the Congress of the United States to pass, and the President of the United States to sign, the Upskilling and Retraining Assistance Act and the Upward Mobility Enhancement Act.
Existing law allows individuals, until January 1, 2025, to designate on their personal income tax return that a specified amount in excess of their tax liability be contributed to the California Breast Cancer Research Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund, which is continuously appropriated to the Franchise Tax Board, the Controller, and the University of California for specified purposes. Existing law also allows individuals, until January 1, 2025, to designate on their tax returns that a specified amount in excess of their tax liability be contributed to the California Cancer Research Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund, which is continuously appropriated to the Franchise Tax Board, the Controller, and the University of California for specified purposes. Existing law requires that each of these funds equal or exceed a minimum contribution amount of $250,000 to continue appearing on the return. This bill would extend the operation of each fund's provisions to January 1, 2032. By extending operation of continuously appropriated funds, this bill would make an appropriation.
The California Constitution permits the Legislature to authorize cities, counties, and cities and counties to provide for bingo games for charitable purposes. Existing law authorizes those local agencies to regulate bingo games for charitable purposes under specified criteria. Existing law requires the proceeds from authorized bingo games to be kept in a special fund and not commingled with any other fund or account. Existing law requires those funds be used only for charitable purposes, except for specified uses. Existing law authorizes an organization to use the funds for rental costs and the purchase of bingo equipment, among other specified uses. Existing law limits the amount to be spent on overhead costs to 20% of the proceeds before the deduction for prizes, or $2,000 a month, whichever is less. This bill would, beginning January 1, 2025, increase the monthly limit on bingo overhead costs to $3,000 per month, increased annually by the annual average percentage in the California Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers for the preceding calendar year.
Existing law includes the term "Eskimo" and "Eskimos." This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions to change the term "Eskimo" to "Inuk" and "Eskimos" to "Inuit." The bill would also make other nonsubstantive revisions.
Existing law establishes the Instructional Quality Commission and requires the commission to, among other things, recommend curriculum frameworks to the State Board of Education. This bill would require the Instructional Quality Commission, when the health curriculum framework is next revised on or after January 1, 2025, to consider providing for inclusion, in that curriculum framework, content on sextortion, as defined.
This measure would designate November 8, 2024, as "California's First-Generation College Celebration Day." The measure would urge all higher education institutions in the state to celebrate California's First-Generation College Celebration Day, recognize the significant role of first-generation college students in developing the state's future workforce, celebrate the federal Higher Education Act of 1965, and support first-generation college students with opportunities and equity in completing their desired degree programs.
