Work Act This bill requires the Department of Labor to establish within the Employment and Training Administration an Employee Ownership and Participation Initiative to promote employee ownership and participation in business decision-making. It also establishes a program, which may include grants for outreach, technical assistance, and training, to encourage new and existing state programs to foster employee ownership and participation in business decision-making.
Protect Our Workers Act of 2021 This bill requires the Army Corps of Engineers to provide to each Corps district clarifying, uniform guidance with respect to prevailing wage requirements for its contractors and subcontractors. This guidance must conform with the Department of Labor's regulations, policies, and guidance with respect to the proper implementation and enforcement of the Davis-Bacon Act and other related acts; direct Corps districts to investigate worker complaints and third-party complaints within 30 days of the date of filing; and instruct Corps districts that certified payroll reports submitted by contractors and subcontractors and the information contained therein shall be publicly available and are not exempt from disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.
This joint resolution nullifies a Department of Labor emergency temporary standard for preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in employment settings. Under the standard issued on November 5, 2021, employers with 100 or more employees must require their onsite employees to either be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.
Traveling Exotic Animal and Public Safety Protection Act of 2021 This bill prohibits the use of exotic or wild animals in performances of a traveling animal act, such as a circus, carnival, or parade. The prohibition does not apply to zoos, aquariums, research facilities, wildlife sanctuaries, and other entities. The prohibition also does not apply to domestic animals or farm animals.
PFAS Definition Improvement Act This bill broadens the definition of perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly referred to as PFAS, in relation to the reporting requirement under the Toxic Substances Control Act. PFAS are man-made and may have adverse human health effects. A variety of products contain the compounds, such as nonstick cookware or weatherproof clothing. Specifically, the bill provides that PFAS include those substances that contain at least one fully fluorinated carbon atom.
Restoring Brand USA Act This bill requires the Department of the Treasury to make $250 million available (out of unobligated balances remaining from certain fees collected by Treasury) for the Corporation for Travel Promotion, also known as Brand USA.
Bringing Registered Apprenticeships to Veterans Education Act or the BRAVE Act This bill requires the Department of Labor, in the implementation of the Transition Assistance Program, to provide information concerning apprenticeship programs to members of the Armed Forces who are separating from active duty. The bill also requires Labor, in coordination with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), to establish a publicly accessible and user-friendly website on which veterans can find specified information about apprenticeship programs that are approved under VA education benefit provisions.
IDEA Full Funding Act This bill provides permanent, mandatory funding for the grant program that assists states and outlying areas in providing special education and related services to children with disabilities.
