Supreme Court Police Parity Act of 202 2 This bill grants the Marshal of the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court Police the authority to protect any member of the immediate family of the Chief Justice, any Associate Justice, or any officer of the Supreme Court if the Marshal determines that such protection is necessary.
Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act of 2022 This bill modifies federal bankruptcy law to allow an individual debtor to exempt from their bankruptcy estate one or more firearms up to a total maximum value of $3,000. The bill also specifies that such firearms are household goods that are not subject to liens in bankruptcy.
Build the Wall Now Act This bill addresses issues related to the construction of a barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border, such as (1) requiring the Department of Homeland Security to resume any project related to the construction of such a barrier (and any related infrastructure); and (2) exempting such construction projects from various legal requirements, including requirements stemming from the Administrative Procedure Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act.
Anti-Caravan Act of 2022 This bill imposes criminal penalties on any individual who organizes or provides material support for a group of 25 or more non-U.S. nationals ( aliens under federal law) crossing international land borders with the intent to enter the United States without valid entry documents or lawful immigration status and in violation of any law. The bill also bars any non-U.S. national who participates in or organizes such a group from receiving any immigration benefit or status for specified periods of time.
No User Fees for Gun Owners Act This bill prohibits a state or local government from imposing any insurance requirement, tax, user fee, or similar charge as a condition of the manufacture importation, acquisition, transfer, or continued ownership of a firearm or ammunition, with the exception of a proportionate sales tax. The bill imposes the same prohibition under the Internal Revenue Code for firearms, pistols, or revolvers, but allows for the assessment of a proportionate sales tax.
Pretrial Release Reporting Act This bill requires the Bureau of Justice Statistics to submit a report to Congress on individuals who are granted bail or pretrial release from state courts and are charged with violent felony offenses (e.g., murder or rape).
They Had Our Back We Have Theirs Act of 2022 This bill provides specified levels of educational assistance and federal student loan forgiveness to children and spouses of eligible public safety officers. An eligible public safety officer is a public safety officer who died or was permanently and totally disabled from an injury sustained in the line of duty.
No Retaining Every Gun In a System That Restricts Your Rights Act This bill modifies the retention requirements for firearm transaction records of federal firearms licensees (FFLs) that go out of business. Current law generally requires FFLs that go out of business to deliver their firearm transaction records to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). This bill removes the requirement for FFLs that go out of business to deliver their firearm transaction records to the ATF. Further, the bill requires the ATF to destroy all out-of-business records it has collected from FFLs.
Canadian Trucker Freedom Act of 2022 This bill provides asylum or refugee status to certain Canadian nationals involved in protests and waives certain requirements. Specifically, asylum or refugee status shall be available to a Canadian national who (1) engaged in nonviolent protest; (2) suffered certain harm, such as reputational harm, from their involvement in such protests and the government of Canada's invocation of the Emergencies Act; (3) continues to be subject to such harm; (4) requests asylum or refugee status at a port of entry or U.S. consulate; (5) consents to and tests negative for COVID-19; and (6) did not unlawfully enter the United States. Under this bill, such an individual may receive asylum or refugee status without a credible fear of persecution. (Generally, current law requires an individual applying for asylum or refugee status to be screened for credible fear, and their application is rejected if no credible fear is found.)
Protecting Americans' Medical Rights Act This bill allows an individual to file a civil action for injuries sustained as a result of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine against a government entity that imposed such vaccination requirement. In addition, a state or local government receiving federal funding related to COVID-19 waives their sovereign immunity against such a civil action.
