Expressing support for the designation of April 30, 2022, as "National Adult Hepatitis B Vaccination Awareness Day".

Maddy summaryThis resolution (HRES 1072) designates April 30, 2022, as "National Adult Hepatitis B Vaccination Awareness Day" to raise public attention. It does not create new laws or policies but symbolically supports efforts to address hepatitis B, which affects millions in the U.S. and has serious health risks like liver cancer. The resolution encourages increased adult vaccination (currently at 30% coverage), testing, and linkage to care, particularly for high-risk groups including people with opioid use disorder and communities disproportionately impacted by the disease. It highlights that hepatitis B is highly infectious and often undiagnosed, with rising cases linked to the opioid epidemic in several states.

Congressional Accountability Act Enhancement Act

Congressional Accountability Act Enhancement Act This bill extends the liability of Members of Congress for employment discrimination settlements and awards and expands certain employment protections for congressional employees. This bill also requires that Members reimburse the Treasury for amounts paid resulting from any unlawful discrimination and related retaliation. Additionally, the bill grants congressional employees a 10-day period to amend a filing alleging employment discrimination if the hearing officer determines the initial filing failed to state a claim for which relief could be granted. The bill also allows the Office of Employee Advocacy to continue to assist a congressional employee with investigations and proceedings related to a claim of workplace discrimination even after the employee begins federal court proceedings.
