Increases the state minimum wage by $1.25 per year from 2026 through 2029 when it would reach twenty dollars ($20.00) per hour and then provides for subsequent annual adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index.
Repeals the provisions of the general laws allowing deferred deposit providers, also known as "payday lenders."
Establishes the Ranked Choice Voting for Rhode Island Presidential Primaries and provides for new sections on Ranked Choice Voting Tabulation and Results Reporting.
Establishes criteria for the criminal offense of sexual assault when the victim is in the custody of a peace officer and also provides that a person convicted of custodial sexual assault would face imprisonment for not more than three (3) years.
Requires a housing code enforcement officer to give a copy of any housing code violation notice to all tenants of the building affected by a housing code violation along with any hearing dates scheduled for the violation.
Amends the uniform controlled substances act and reclassifies simple possession of 28 grams or less of certain controlled substances as a misdemeanor.
This joint resolution would propose to the voters a constitutional amendment which would allow a criminal defendant to argue jury nullification as a defense.
Exempts all Narragansett Indian Tribe members owning real estate, whether privately, commercially, in nonprofit corporations or in land trusts, from all real estate taxes imposed by the state or any municipality.
Repeals sections of the Narragansett Indian Land Management Corporation Act and acknowledges the Narragansett Indian Tribe as the sole aboriginal people sovereign to the territory of what is now known as Rhode Island.
Exempts all Narragansett Indian Tribe homeowners from real estate taxes and real estate tax liens, imposed by the state or any municipality. Also declares the Tribe as the sole sovereign federally recognized Indian Tribe in Rhode Island.
