Illegal Immigration Penalty Enhancement Act of 2021

Illegal Immigration Penalty Enhancement Act of 2021 This bill establishes criminal penalties for certain aliens who reenter the United States after deportation. Specifically, an alien who does not have lawful immigration status and has reentered the United States after deportation shall be imprisoned for not less than five years in a federal correctional facility. If an alien is convicted of this offense and another offense, the alien must serve the sentences for the offenses consecutively.

SCORE Act of 2021

Second Chance Opportunity for Re-Entry Education Act of 2021 or the SCORE Act of 2021 This bill directs the Bureau of Justice Assistance within the Department of Justice to establish a grant program—the Second Chance Opportunity for Re-Entry Education Grant Program—to promote reentry training programs and reduce recidivism to county jails for qualified nonviolent inmates.

MAHSA Act

Mahsa Amini Human rights and Security Accountability Act or the MAHSA Act This bill requires the President to impose property- and visa-blocking sanctions on certain persons (individuals and entities) affiliated with Iran. The President must make determinations about whether certain existing sanctions apply to specified persons and impose the applicable sanctions, including determinations concerning (1) the Supreme Leader of Iran and any official in the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran, (2) the President of Iran and any official in the Office of the President of Iran, and (3) any entity overseen by the Office of the Supreme Leader of Iran which is complicit in supporting human rights abuses or terrorism.

Medal of Honor Act

Medal of Honor Act This bill increases the rate of special pension for living Medal of Honor recipients from $1,388.68 to $8,333.33 and establishes a rate of monthly special pension of $1,489.73 for surviving spouses of Medal of Honor recipients.

Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2022

Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2022 This act requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to increase the amounts payable for wartime disability compensation, additional compensation for dependents, the clothing allowance for certain disabled veterans, and dependency and indemnity compensation for surviving spouses and children. Specifically, the VA must increase the amounts by the same percentage as the cost-of-living increase in benefits for Social Security recipients that is effective on December 1, 2022. The act requires the VA to publish the amounts payable, as increased, in the Federal Register. The VA is authorized to make a similar adjustment to the rates of disability compensation payable to persons who have not received compensation for service-connected disability or death.
