Maddy summarySB 471 would prohibit Class 3 electric assisted bicycles (higher-powered e-bikes) from operating on sidewalks, bicycle lanes, or bicycle paths in Oregon. This directly affects Class 3 e-bike riders, who would no longer be allowed to use these designated areas under normal operation. The bill includes one key exception: Class 3 e-bikes may use bike lanes only when powered exclusively by human power (e.g., while pedaling). The law aims to clarify traffic safety rules for e-bike use, aligning with existing regulations for other bicycle types and vehicle operations. (Note: This bill is pending in committee as of June 2025 and has not yet become law.)
Maddy summarySB 468 prohibits noncompete agreements in employment contracts for health professionals in Oregon, making such clauses void and unenforceable. This directly affects health professionals (e.g., doctors, nurses, therapists) licensed or certified by Oregon health regulatory boards. The bill ensures these workers cannot be restricted from seeking new employment within the state after leaving a job, removing barriers to career mobility. It does not apply to bonus restrictions or non-solicitation agreements, and requires specific conditions for enforceable noncompetes in other cases.
