Relating to a taxable income exemption for taxpayers who are a veteran.

] Exempts from state income tax [ for a taxpayer who is a veteran ] all federal retirement pay or pension received for service in the Armed Forces of the United States for a taxpayer who is a disabled veteran or member of a reserve component or the National Guard . Applies to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2026.

Relating to initiating false reports; prescribing an effective date.

Creates the crime of initiating a false report in the first degree. Punishes by a maximum of 10 years' imprisonment, $250,000 fine, or both. Creates the crime of initiating a false report in the second degree. Punishes by a maximum of five years' imprisonment, $125,000 fine, or both. Renames the crime of initiating a false report to initiating a false report in the third degree. Takes effect on the 91st day following adjournment sine die.

Relating to simple estates.

] [ Expands the types of estates that may use the simple estate process to administer a decedent's estate. Modifies the calculation of fair market values of assets and retains application of the current probate filing fees for the new type of simple estates. Directs the State Court Administrator to adjust asset value limitations for the new type of simple estates annually for inflation. ] Modifies calculations of the fair market value of simple estate assets by excluding the values of manufactured homes from the asset limits for personal property and including the values of manufactured homes in the assets limits for real property.

Relating to the depredation of livestock.

] [ Provides that compensation for injury to livestock or working dogs under the wolf depredation compensation and financial assistance grant program must be based on fair market value and other factors. Caps compensation at $25,000 per animal. Removes the provision authorizing compensation for missing livestock. ] Directs the State Department of Agriculture to modify the methodology under which participating counties award grants for wolf depredation compensation. Establishes reporting requirements for counties and for the department to report to the Legislative Assembly on financial assistance provided under the program.
