Authorizes pharmacists to administer injections for contraceptive use

Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes licensed pharmacists in the state to administer FDA-approved reversible progestin-only contraceptive injections and dispense self-administered hormonal contraceptives. To qualify, pharmacists must complete specific training and follow a process that includes providing patients with risk assessment questionnaires and educational fact sheets before administering or dispensing the medication. The law requires pharmacists to notify a patient's primary healthcare provider within 72 hours of the service, unless the patient opts out, and allows pharmacists to refuse the order if they believe it could endanger the patient's health. These changes expand access to contraception by enabling pharmacists to perform a role previously reserved for physicians and nurse practitioners.

Relates to the service area for paratransit transportation

Maddy summaryThis bill updates state transportation laws to ensure that buses serving people with disabilities are available within a three-mile radius of any fixed bus route. It mandates that new buses added to transit fleets must be accessible to individuals using wheelchairs or other mobility aids, with specific exceptions for temporary shortages and vehicles with a useful life of six years or less. The legislation applies to both the state transportation authority and its subsidiaries, as well as other transportation providers operating local fixed-route services. By requiring accessible vehicles in this expanded service area, the bill aims to improve mobility options for disabled passengers across a wider geographic range.
