Relates to supervision by certain marriage and family therapists and mental health counselors

Maddy summaryThis bill sets new requirements for who can supervise mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists in New York. It specifies that supervisors must have at least three years of active licensure, diagnostic privileges, and 36 hours of specialized training in supervision ethics. The bill also clarifies that supervised experience gained under certain department waivers - such as in settings operating under temporary authorization - can count toward licensing requirements. These changes apply directly to professionals seeking licensure and those providing supervision in the mental health counseling field.

Relates to requiring prescription drug containers be labeled with a description of the size, shape, color and imprint of the prescription drug it contains if such drug is in tablet or capsule form

Maddy summaryThis bill requires pharmacies to label prescription drug containers with a physical description of the pill itself, including its size, shape, color, and any imprint markings. It directly affects pharmacies and pharmacists who dispense prescription medications, adding these specific details to existing label requirements. The key provision updates current labeling rules by mandating that the container label must include these visual characteristics to help patients and healthcare providers identify the medication accurately. This change aims to improve safety and reduce medication errors by providing clearer visual identification of prescription drugs.

Relates to prohibiting certain conditions or preconditions of employment

Maddy summaryBill A1214 prohibits New York employers from requiring job applicants or employees to waive legal rights (such as claims under state or federal law) as a condition of employment. It directly affects all employers and job seekers in New York State by banning pre-employment agreements that diminish rights like wage claims or discrimination protections. The law specifically excludes collective bargaining agreements with labor unions. This creates a clear legal requirement that employers cannot force individuals to give up existing or future legal claims to secure a job. The bill takes effect 90 days after enactment.
