Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes the town of Dickinson to impose a 3% tax on hotel and motel room rentals within its boundaries. It allows property owners to collect the tax from guests (included in the room rate) and remit it to the town, with exemptions for government entities, non-profits, and guests staying 30+ consecutive days. Revenue from the tax must be deposited into Dickinson’s general fund for any lawful town use. The tax applies to standard hotel/motel stays but excludes certain organizations and long-term residents.
Maddy summaryThis bill removes a New York state law that previously prohibited transplant patients from being listed on waiting lists at multiple organ procurement organizations. It directly affects patients awaiting organ transplants who may now be eligible for placement on waiting lists at different facilities within New York. The key change eliminates the specific ban (previously in Public Health Law §4363) that prevented patients from having multiple listings simultaneously. This amendment updates organ allocation rules to allow patients to potentially access multiple transplant programs without violating state policy. The law took effect immediately upon signing on October 16, 2025.
Maddy summaryThis bill (A 7843) ceremonially dedicates a specific segment of State Route 118 in Yorktown, Westchester County - from Underhill Avenue to Old Country Way - to Jake Arcara. It requires the transportation commissioner to install and maintain signage reading "Highway Dedicated to Jake Arcara" along this route, while clarifying the official highway name remains unchanged. The dedication is explicitly stated to be ceremonial only, with no impact on commerce or official road designations. The bill was signed into law on September 10, 2025.
Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes the town of Patterson to impose a tax of up to 5% on hotel and motel room rentals, including bed and breakfasts and tourist facilities, but not on guests staying 90+ consecutive days (defined as "permanent residents"). Hotels and motels would collect the tax from guests and remit it to the town’s chief fiscal officer, with exemptions for state/federal government, non-profits, and other specified entities. All tax revenue would go into Patterson’s general fund for any lawful purpose, such as public services or infrastructure. The authorization expires two years after the bill takes effect.
Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes the town of Niagara to sell a specific 0.15-acre park parcel (described in the bill) to Rajendra Sharma for residential development, ending its use as public parkland. The town must dedicate funds equal to the land's fair market value toward acquiring new parkland or improving existing recreational facilities. It includes a federal funding clause requiring compliance with federal requirements if the parkland received federal support. The bill does not change parkland access for residents but transfers a small, specific parcel to private ownership under these conditions.
