Requires utility companies to report on utility poles and remove unused utility poles in the public right-of-way

Maddy summaryThis bill requires utility companies to annually report all utility poles in public rights-of-way, clearly identifying which are actively used versus unused. Companies must create a removal plan for unused poles and remove them within one year, facing fines up to $10,000 per pole per year for failure to comply. The report must be submitted to regulators, the governor, and key legislative committees by December 1 each year. This directly affects regulated utility companies operating in public spaces, focusing on improving public safety and space management by eliminating obsolete infrastructure.

Provides access to live scan fingerprinting to society for the prevention of cruelty to animals officers

Maddy summaryThis bill allows officers from organizations that prevent cruelty to animals (society for the prevention of cruelty to animals officers) to use live scan fingerprinting systems immediately after making an arrest. It directly affects these officers by granting them independent access to fingerprint technology without requiring other law enforcement personnel. The key provision amends criminal procedure law to mandate that these officers may complete fingerprinting independently following an arrest. This streamlines their process for finalizing arrests and reduces reliance on external police assistance.
