Amends the definition of mental health care provider for purposes of sex offenses to include persons who are, or are required to be, licensed or registered or holds themselves out to be licensed or registered, or provides services as if they were licensed or registered as a physician, psychologist, professional nurse, clinical social worker, master social worker under the supervision of a physician, psychologist or licensed clinical social worker, licensed mental health counselor or a licensed marriage and family therapist.
This bill regulates crypto kiosks and cashier crypto exchanges by requiring operators to register with the state department. It mandates that businesses display registration numbers and provide clear disclosures about fees, exchange rates, and potential scams before a transaction occurs. Operators must also offer live customer service during operating hours and provide detailed receipts for every virtual currency exchange. Furthermore, the legislation establishes fraud refund procedures and anti-money laundering measures to protect consumers.
Prohibits falsely impersonating an employee organization or an employee representative with the intent to deceive the recipient and thereby cause harm to such recipient or employee organization by the use of fraud, misrepresentation, material omission, or other deception in making and disseminating a verbal, written or electronic communication; provides that the attorney general may bring an action or proceeding to enjoin such unlawful acts or practices.
This bill amends state law to grant peace officer status to uniformed court officers employed by the village of Dobbs Ferry in Westchester County. Under the new provisions, these officers will receive specific law enforcement powers but are prohibited from carrying firearms unless they hold a valid license. Furthermore, any officer who is not currently a certified police or peace officer must complete mandatory training before exercising these new authorities. The changes become effective immediately upon the bill's passage.
Prohibits motor vehicle manufacturers and dealers from charging a subscription fee for certain functions of a motor vehicle after the vehicle is sold; provides that any manufacturer, dealer, or agent of a manufacturer or dealer that fails to comply with such requirements shall be assessed a civil penalty not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars per point of sale for each violation.
This bill removes sales tax from admission fees for comedy shows, including both scripted and unscripted stand-up performances. It applies to theaters, opera houses, and other venues hosting live comedy acts, as well as cabarets and similar establishments that charge a separate fee for comedic entertainment. The exemption covers both traditional dramatic venues and places that serve food or merchandise alongside comedy performances, provided the admission charge is distinct from food or merchandise sales. The changes will take effect at the start of the next sales tax quarter after the law is enacted, with a minimum 60-day waiting period.
Establishes a three calendar day waiting period from contact of the New York State National Instant Background Check System (NYS NICS) before a firearm, shotgun or rifle may be delivered to a person; provides exceptions where a person possesses a license to purchase, carry or possess a pistol, revolver, or semiautomatic rifle.
Amends provisions of law from making it mandatory to optional that where the purchase of services by state agencies be conducted in a manner that accords second priority to centralized contracts meeting form, function and utility required by such agency, third priority to agency or multi-agency contracts and fourth priority to other means of contracting.
Requires landlords of non-owner occupied, one-six family dwellings in the city of New York to provide fire extinguishers in all rented apartments; authorizes the promulgation of standards related thereto.
Authorizes the village of Briarcliff Manor to provide that the positions of village treasurer, deputy village treasurer, village clerk, deputy clerk and building inspector may be held by residents of Westchester county, or an adjoining county within the state of New York.
Grants retroactive tier IV membership in the New York state and local employees' retirement system to Katie Adamek, who is an employee of the Schenectady City School District beginning November 23, 2009.
Authorizes the department of motor vehicles to accept a certificate of release or discharge from active duty issued by the United States department of defense (DD form 214), a veteran identification card issued by the United States department of veterans affairs, or a veterans health identification card issued by the United States department of veterans affairs from veterans of the military as acceptable proofs of identity when applying for a driver license or state identification card.
