American Families Gas Tax Relief Act

Maddy summaryThe American Families Gas Tax Relief Act temporarily eliminates federal excise taxes on gasoline, diesel, and kerosene for a period of 120 days starting on the date of enactment. This tax break is intended to lower fuel prices for consumers, with provisions requiring producers and dealers to pass the savings directly to buyers. The President has the authority to extend this holiday by an additional 90 days if economic conditions warrant it. To maintain funding for infrastructure and environmental programs, the government will transfer the lost tax revenue from the general treasury to the Highway Trust Fund and the Leaking Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund.

Multigenerational Caregiving Data Act

Maddy summaryThe Multigenerational Caregiving Data Act requires the U.S. government to add a specific question to major national surveys to identify people who provide unpaid care to both children and older adults. This change aims to better track individuals who juggle responsibilities for dependents across different generations, addressing a gap in current data collection. Before the question is fully used, the government will test it to ensure it is clear and not too burdensome for respondents, and all answers will remain voluntary. Within three years of passing, the survey must include this new question, and within two years of its inclusion, the government must report to Congress on how well the data works and suggest any needed adjustments. Ultimately, the bill seeks to improve official statistics on caregiving to help policymakers make more informed decisions about health, work, and family support.

Combating Organized Retail Crime Act of 2025

Maddy summaryThis bill would amend federal law to strengthen penalties for organized retail crime by expanding definitions of theft to include digital goods, gift cards, and setting a $5,000 aggregate value threshold for charges over a 12-month period. It would establish a new "Organized Retail and Supply Chain Crime Coordination Center" under Homeland Security to coordinate Federal, State, local, and Tribal law enforcement efforts against cross-jurisdictional theft groups. The Center would share information with retailers, transportation companies, and law enforcement agencies, track crime trends, and produce annual reports on organized retail crime. This legislation directly affects retailers, supply chain businesses, and law enforcement agencies, while targeting organized crime groups responsible for a 93% increase in larceny incidents and rising safety concerns for retail employees. The bill aims to address significant financial losses and supply chain disruptions noted in the National Retail Federation's 2023 data.

Save Our Shrimpers Act

Save Our Shrimpers Act This bill prohibits federal funds from being made available to international financial institutions (e.g., the International Monetary Fund) for financing activities related to foreign shrimp farms. The bill also requires an annual report on compliance by U.S. leadership of international financial institutions with policies to oppose financing for certain commodities or minerals. Specifically, the bill requires the Department of the Treasury to condition any provision of federal funds to an international financial institution on the requirement that the funds not be used to finance any activity related to shrimp farming, shrimp processing, or the export of shrimp in any foreign country. Under current law, Treasury must instruct U.S. leadership of international financial institutions to oppose providing financial assistance for the production or extraction of any commodity or mineral for export if (1) the commodity or mineral is in surplus on world markets, and (2) the export of such commodity or mineral will cause substantial injury to U.S. producers of a competing commodity or mineral (or of the same or a similar commodity or mineral). This bill requires the Government Accountability Office to investigate and annually report to Congress on the extent to which U.S. leadership at these institutions have carried out Treasury's instructions.

Amending the Rules of the House of Representatives to prohibit Members, officers, and employees of the House of Representatives from participating in prediction markets in certain cases, and for other purposes.

Maddy summaryThis bill proposes to ban Members, officers, and employees of the House of Representatives from trading in prediction markets that bet on specific events or contingencies. The rule would prohibit these individuals from entering into contracts or agreements involving excluded commodities, though it explicitly allows for standard insurance policies and legal sports betting. Additionally, the resolution expresses the House's preference that the executive and judicial branches adopt similar restrictions to prevent conflicts of interest.

Maddy summaryThis resolution formally condemns the politically motivated shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on April 25, 2026, and denounces political violence in general. It commends law enforcement agencies, particularly the Secret Service, for their rapid response that protected attendees and saved lives, while noting one officer was injured. Maddy summaryHJRES 140 is a procedural resolution seeking congressional disapproval of a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule published in the Federal Register (88 Fed. Reg. 6308, January 31, 2023). The resolution targets Public Land Order No. 7917, which proposed withdrawing federal lands in Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis Counties, Minnesota.
