Provides for an adjusted gross income tax credit for donations to a public school foundation or school corporation. Provides that the maximum individual taxpayer credit is $1,000 in the case of a single return and $2,000 in the case of a joint return. Provides that the maximum corporate taxpayer credit is the greater of 10% of the corporation's total adjusted gross income tax liability or $10,000.
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring the legacy of the Hulman-George family and celebrating the incoming leadership of Roger Penske and the Penske Corporation at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and INDYCAR.
Modifies the definition of "jumbo boat" by removing the requirement that the vessel be approved by the United States Coast Guard.
Provides that a permit may be escrowed with the alcohol and tobacco commission (commission) for an initial period of 48 months, to which may be added two 12 month extensions. (Current law provides for an initial 24 month period followed by three 12 month extensions.) Specifies that an escrowed permit reverts to the commission if the commission has a reasonable basis to believe that the escrow of the permit does not comply with representations made by the permit holder.
Allows a waiter, waitress, or server who is at least 18 years of age (instead of at least 19 years of age, under current law) to serve alcoholic beverages in a dining room of a restaurant or hotel, if the person: (1) completes an alcohol server training program; and (2) is supervised by a person at least 21 years of age who has completed an alcohol server training program.
Provides that a governing body of a school corporation or administrative staff of a school corporation may not: (1) establish or adopt a rule or policy that limits or restricts a teacher or other school staff member from a provision that allows the removal of a student from class for a certain period; or (2) require a teacher or other school employee to physically touch a student under certain conditions. Requires a principal to report a physical assault by a student on a person having authority over the student to a law enforcement agency. Makes it a Class C misdemeanor if a principal knowingly or intentionally fails to make the report. Requires a school corporation to submit to the department of education information regarding a program developed with a law enforcement agency addressing certain violations of law and reporting requirements. Makes it a Class C misdemeanor for failure to report to a law enforcement agency that a school employee may have received a threat or may be the victim of intimidation, battery, or harassment. Increases the penalty for a battery if the offense is committed against a school employee while the school employee is acting within the scope of the school employee's employment. Provides that, before a student who is convicted of certain crimes is returned to class, the principal shall hold a meeting to determine whether a behavior or safety plan is required for the student.
Permits the civil forfeiture of a vehicle if the vehicle is used to recklessly pass a school bus with an extended stop arm.
Provides that a school's or school corporation's category or designation of school or school corporation performance assigned by the state board of education for the 2018-2019 school year may not be lower than the school's or school corporation's category or designation of school or school corporation performance for the 2017-2018 school year. Provides that additional consequences for school improvement may not be applied for the 2018-2019 school year. Provides that ILEARN program test scores or a school's category or designation of school improvement for the 2018-2019 school year may not be used by a school corporation as part of an annual performance evaluation of a particular certificated employee unless the use of the ILEARN program test scores or the school's category or designation of school improvement would improve the particular certificated employee's annual performance rating.
