PUB HLTH - FETAL CREMATION

Amends the Hospital Licensing Act. Provides that a hospital may include the option of common cremation of fetal tissue in its mandatory notification to a mother following a spontaneous fetal demise after a gestation period of less than 20 weeks. Amends the Crematory Regulation Act to provide an exemption to cremation procedures concerning simultaneous cremation of the human remains for fetal tissue pursuant to the Act.

COURT OF CLAIMS-DELIBERATE PER

Amends the Court of Claims Act. Provides that the Court must rule on a claim filed pursuant to the Line of Duty Compensation Act or Illinois National Guardsman's Compensation Act within one year after the application for that claim is filed. Effective immediately.

GREEN BUILDINGS ACT

Creates the Green Buildings Act. Requires that State-funded building construction and major renovations of existing State-owned facilities must meet certain energy and environmental standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program rating system, the Green Building Initiative's Green Globes rating system, or an equivalent rating system. Permits waiver of the standards by the Capital Development Board or another agency. Specifies the criteria for waivers. Requires the Board to analyze and evaluate the Act's green building standards after the earlier of 5 years or the completion of 10 Board green projects. Effective immediately.

$COMPTROLLER-COURT REPORTING

Makes FY09 appropriations to the State Comptroller for expenses related to court reporting. The sum of $3,633,750 is appropriated for official court reporting. The sum of $760,000 is appropriated for State contributions to the State Employees’ Retirement System and $356,250 for State contributions to Social Security. Effective immediately.
