RELATING TO SCHOOLS.

Establishes a Workforce Readiness Program within the Department of Education to allow students to graduate from an extended high school enrollment with an industry-recognized associate's degree to complement the student's high school diploma. Appropriates moneys to develop and implement the program, including (2.0) FTE Educational Specialist II staff positions and (7.0) FTE District Office Teachers. Effective 7/1/2050. (SD2)

RELATING TO GRANTS.

RELATING TO CESSPOOLS.

RELATING TO CANNABIS FOR MEDICAL USE.

Requires the Department of Health to convene a working group to develop a universal symbol, quality control procedures with a focus on a retail product recall system, and standards, regulations, and protocols for the manufacture and sale of edible medical cannabis products. RELATING TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

Requires the department of business, economic development, and tourism to conduct a study on potential areas of economic development, other than tourism, for the county of Hawaii and requires the department to research potential means to expand the manufacturing industry in the county of Hawaii. Appropriates funds to conduct the study.

RELATING TO COUNTIES.

Amends the distribution of the transient accommodations tax by changing the amount distributed to the counties from a fixed sum to a percentage of the revenues collected. Ties the amount of revenue distributed to the tourism special fund to the Honolulu region consumer price index or a successor index.

RELATING TO MINIMUM WAGE.

Excludes persons with impaired earning capacities from having to receive the lower special minimum wage rate. Requires the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism to study the impacts of raising the minimum wage and submit a report to the Legislature on its findings and recommendations.
