RELATING TO LOVE MY LIBRARY DAY.

Maddy summarySB 2147 designates the first Friday in February each year as "Love My Library Day" in the state. This bill creates a symbolic annual observance to recognize public libraries and their role in communities. It does not establish new programs, funding, or legal requirements - only a designated day for awareness. The bill was introduced on January 14, 2026, and passed its first reading on January 21, 2026. REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION TO ESTABLISH A COORDINATED DATA ENTRY SYSTEM FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION AND COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENTS AND PROSECUTORS TO TRACK THE STATUS OF DETAINEES INCARCERATED IN DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS AND REHABILITATION FACILITIES.

Maddy summaryThis Senate Concurrent Resolution requests the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to create a shared data system that allows county police departments and prosecutors to track the status of detainees held in state correctional facilities. The bill aims to address current inconsistencies in how different agencies record and report information about detainees, which can hinder effective oversight and access to rehabilitative programs. If implemented, the system would require DCR to report on its progress, estimated costs, and the number of participating agencies to the Legislature by early 2027. This resolution serves as a formal request rather than a law, directing the department to study the feasibility of establishing the coordinated data entry system.

URGING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION TO HOLD AT LEAST TWO PUBLIC COMMUNITY MEETINGS TO DISCUSS AND RECEIVE INPUT FROM THE COMMUNITY OR POTENTIAL MAJOR ENERGY PROJECTS BEFORE APPROVING MAJOR ENERGY PROJECTS THAT WOULD BE HOSTED IN THE AFFECTED COMMUNITIES.

Maddy summaryThis Senate Resolution urges the Public Utilities Commission to hold at least two public community meetings before approving major energy projects that would be located in affected communities. The bill defines major energy projects as those with a capital cost of $10 million or more, including solar farms, wind facilities, battery storage, and grid modernization. While the resolution does not create new legal requirements, it formally requests the commission to engage with local residents and stakeholders to gather input on these infrastructure developments. The measure aims to ensure communities have a voice in energy decisions that impact their neighborhoods and to address concerns about equitable distribution of energy project benefits.
