Requires the Department of Education to meet the local farm to school meal goal of fifteen per cent of food served in public schools to be locally sourced by 2025 and thirty per cent by 2030. Requires the Department of Education to report to the Legislature. (SD2)
Requires the department of education food services branch to coordinate with the principals and vice principals of department schools to determine which school meal program offered by the USDA is the best fit for the student body and campus of each school.
Creates the Hawaii Diversification and Resilience in a Vibrant Economy Program (HI DRiVE) and special fund, which requires the Hawaii technology development corporation to build on small business innovation research phase II awards and use funds to support phase III efforts to commercialize technology, develop manufacturing infrastructure, acquire equipment or materials, and support training or quality systems. Requires the governor to apply for $100,000,000 in economic diversification assistance from the federal government for the creation of the HI DRiVE program.
Broadens the definition of "food waste" as used in integrated solid waste management. Excludes facilities designed primarily for composting organic material such as food waste and green waste, on-site school campus food waste programs, and recycling drop-off facilities from the requirement that disposal facilities shall not be constructed, modified, or expanded without first establishing a buffer zone of no less than one-half mile from the nearest residential, school, or hospital property line. Establishes a class of artisan-scale composting operations exempt from department of health regulations to divert organic materials from Hawaii's landfills. Takes effect 7/1/2050. (SD1)
Requires all letterheads, documents, symbols, and emblems of the State and other political subdivisions that include Hawaiian words or names to include accurate and appropriate Hawaiian names, spelling, and punctuation. Establishes references for accurate, appropriate, and authentic Hawaiian names and words, including proper Hawaiian spelling and punctuation. Clarifies that the full text of bills and other official documents are not required to be written in Hawaiian and that misspelled or incorrectly punctuated Hawaiian words and names shall not invalidate the documents or render them unenforceable and no cause of action shall arise accordingly.
Removes psilocybin and psilocyn from the list of Schedule I substances. Requires the Department of Health to establish designated treatment centers for the therapeutic administration of psilocybin and psilocyn. Establishes a review panel to review and assess the effects of this measure.
