REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO FACILITATE AND ACCELERATE THE ADOPTION OF SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUELS TO DECARBONIZE HAWAIʻI'S TRANSPORTATION SECTOR AND SUPPORT THE STATE'S CLIMATE GOALS.

Maddy summaryHCR 70 is a non-binding legislative resolution requesting Hawaii's Department of Transportation (DOT) to accelerate the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) in the state's aviation sector. It directs the DOT to collaborate with airlines, fuel producers, and the Hawaii State Energy Office to develop policies, incentives, and infrastructure for SAF use. The resolution ties this effort to Hawaii's climate goals, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2045 and implementing the Navahine v. DOT settlement plan. The DOT must report progress on these efforts to the Legislature by 2026.
