RELATING TO PEDESTRIANS.

Maddy summaryHB 941 would allow pedestrians to cross roadways against traffic flow (e.g., against a "Walk" signal) under specific, undefined circumstances, directly affecting pedestrians in areas where such crossings are currently prohibited. The bill's key provision overrides standard traffic code requirements for pedestrian crossings during these designated situations. It does not specify what those circumstances are or how enforcement would work. This policy change modifies existing traffic rules for pedestrian movement but does not address broader safety infrastructure or enforcement details.

RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES.

Maddy summaryHB 1444 would change motor vehicle safety inspection requirements from annual to biennial (every two years). This directly affects vehicle owners in the state who currently need yearly inspections. The key provision replaces the annual inspection mandate with a two-year cycle for most vehicles. The bill focuses solely on altering the inspection frequency, with no other policy changes described in the abstract.
