Educational Opportunities for Disabled Veterans; Defining the term “disabled veteran”; providing that disabled veterans receiving certain federal educational assistance benefits are eligible to receive a waiver for the remaining cost of tuition and fees at certain institutions; requiring the amount awarded by the state to be contingent on the application of specified federal benefits; requiring certain institutions to submit an annual report to the Board of Governors and the State Board of Education, etc.
Regulation of Smoking in Public Places; Authorizing counties and municipalities to further restrict smoking within the boundaries of public beaches and public parks under certain circumstances, with exceptions; requiring that any signs installed in relation to such restrictions include certain information, etc.
Child Care Facilities; Citing this act as the "Child Safety Alarm Act"; requiring certain vehicles, by a specified date, to be equipped with a reliable alarm system that meets specified criteria; requiring the Department of Children and Families to adopt by rule minimum safety standards for such systems and to maintain a list of approved alarm manufacturers and alarm systems, etc.
Land Conservation; Revising requirements for the use of land for conservation purposes to be exempt from ad valorem taxation; authorizing conservation easement agreements to include provisions that allow recreational activities; deleting a provision requiring that activities authorized under a conservation easement agreement be a current or historic use of the land placed under easement, etc.
Public Records/County Attorneys and Assistant County Attorneys; Providing an exemption from public records requirements for the personal identifying and location information of current and former county attorneys and assistant county attorneys and the names and personal identifying and location information of the spouses and children of such attorneys; providing a statement of public necessity, etc.
