High School Graduation Requirements; Adds new requirement for award of standard high school diploma to ACCEL students; requires students to submit FAFSA to be awarded standard high school diploma; provides exception; requires high schools to enforce & monitor compliance with such requirements.
Guidance Services on Academic and Career Planning; Requires students & parents be informed of certain acceleration, academic, & career planning options; requires personalized academic & career plan be developed in consultation with certified school counselor for certain students; requires certain information to be included in such plan.
Broward County; Creates independent special district to provide & fund senior services in Broward County; provides for governing body to be known as Senior Services Council of Broward County; provides for council's membership, terms, vacancies in office, compensation, powers, functions, duties, fiscal year, & budget procedures; authorizes levy of ad valorem taxes annually; provides for additional district powers, duties, responsibilities, & obligations; provides limitations; provides for dissolution of district; provides for referendum & ballot question.
Unlawful Employment Practices; Revises unlawful employment practices in Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992 to include discriminatory practices relating to military status.
Architect Education Minority Assistance Program; Creates program within DBPR; requires Architect Education Minority Assistance Advisory Council to assist Board of Architecture & Interior Design with administering program; provides funding requirements for scholarships provided under program; caps amount of funds DBPR may spend annually on program; prohibits person from knowingly filing documents with board which contain false information or material misstatements of fact.
Sales Tax Holiday for ENERGY STAR & WaterSense Products; Provides sales tax exemption for certain ENERGY STAR & WaterSense products during specified timeframe.
Pari-mutuel Wagering; Prohibits greyhound racing permitholders from conducting live greyhound racing or dogracing; requires thoroughbred permitholder to conduct live thoroughbred racing; authorizes specified permitholders to elect to conduct live harness horse racing; authorizes Division of Pari-mutuel Wagering to approve certain changes to operating dates.
School Nutrition Program Requirements; Requires district school boards to provide specified information to parents & guardians of students eligible for certain school nutrition programs.
Offenses Evidencing Prejudice; Expands grounds for reclassification of offenses to include prejudice based on gender or gender identity of any person; specifies reclassification occurs if commission of offenses is based on prejudice towards any person on specified grounds; replaces term "mental or physical disability" with term "disability"; defines "disability."
Commissioner of Education; Proposes amendments to the State Constitution to provide for election of Commissioner of Education & his or her inclusion as a member of the Cabinet & the State Board of Education.
