This measure would proclaim May 2 through May 9, 2011, as Cinco de Mayo Week, and would urge all Californians to join in celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
This measure would respectfully urge the members of California's congressional delegation to preserve the right of the State of California to opt out of any federal Internet gambling system, and retain the right to operate its own intrastate Internet gambling system, or opt into any federal Internet gambling system.
This measure would proclaim October 22 to October 30, 2011, as including Red Ribbon Week, and would encourage all Californians to help build drug-free communities and participate in drug prevention activities.
This measure would recognize the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks as a day of solemn commemoration.
Existing law vests jurisdiction and supervision over horse racing in this state in the California Horse Racing Board. Existing law permits the board to authorize a licensed quarter horse racing association that is conducting a live racing meeting to accept wagers on certain races conducted by the racing association that conducts the American Quarter Horse Racing Challenge, if the races are conducted on the same day as the American Quarter Horse Racing Challenge, as specified. This bill would additionally permit the board to authorize a licensed quarter horse racing association that is conducting a live racing meeting to accept wagers on the full card of races conducted by another racing association on the day that other association conducts the Texas Classic Futurity and Remington Park Futurity, as specified.
This measure would recognize March 31, 2011, as the anniversary of the birth of César Chávez, and would call upon all Californians to participate in appropriate observances to remember César Chávez as a symbol of hope and justice to all persons.
Under existing law, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act is administered by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Existing law requires the department to make an annual report to the Legislature on the department's activities, on or before March 1 of each year, for the previous calendar year. This bill would, instead, require the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to report for the previous fiscal year.
This measure would continue designation and observance of the month of October as Italian American Heritage Month. This measure would also encourage the Legislature to continue the Italian American Legislator Project and welcome the exhibit "The Italian American Legislator Project of 2011: A Legacy of Service to the California Legislature" to the State Capitol Building in October 2011 and encourage all Californians, through the K–12 curriculum and otherwise, to learn about the history, role, and contributions of Italian Americans to the State of California.
This measure would urge the Governor to make the prevention of underage alcohol use a priority within this state by engaging in a statewide effort to prevent and reduce underage drinking and its consequences.
