This measure would designate August 16, 2018, as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Awareness Day in California to enhance public awareness of comprehensive human immunodeficiency virus prevention strategies.
This measure would declare October 23 to 31, 2018, inclusive, as Red Ribbon Week, and would encourage all Californians to help build drug-free communities and to participate in drug prevention activities.
This measure would urge the United States Department of Justice not to direct its enforcement priorities towards California's lawfully and closely regulated cannabis industry, among other things.
This measure would encourage the federal government to maintain or restore full funding to integral international exchange programs, such as the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.
Existing law generally requires that not less than the general prevailing rate of per diem wages, as specified, be paid to workers employed on a public work, as defined. Existing law sets forth the penalties for a violation of this requirement. Existing law prohibits a charter city from receiving or using state funding or financial assistance for a construction project if the charter city has a charter that does not require, or the charter city has not required within the last 2 years, compliance with these provisions on a public works contract, as specified. This bill would exempt from the requirement to pay a prevailing wage of per diem wages, until January 1, 2024, graffiti abatement work performed pursuant to a contract between the City of Los Angeles and a nonprofit community-based organization if the work is performed by specified individuals. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for the City of Los Angeles.
This measure would recognize the month of June 2018 as California's Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month and Thursday, June 21, 2018, as The Longest Day in California, and would urge all Californians to wear purple on this day to help spread global awareness of the Alzheimer's Association's vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease.
This measure would proclaim and acknowledge the month of June 2018 as Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month in California and would reiterate the importance of annually recognizing Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month in the state.
