This measure would, among other things, honor the late civil rights pioneer and icon Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

This measure would proclaim January 27, 2022, as Rose Ann Vuich Recognition Day, in recognition of Senator Rose Ann Vuich as the first woman elected to the California State Senate, to honor Senator Vuich's service to the Senate, and to appropriately reflect the Senator's stature and legacy.
This measure would proclaim the month of February 2022 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and would call upon the people of California to observe the month with programs and activities that raise awareness about the dynamics of teen dating violence and that support youth in learning the skills to have safe and healthy relationships.
Existing law requires, among other things, that every state agency that requests on any written form or written publication newly printed on or after July 1, 2014, or through its internet website whether a person is a veteran, to request that information only in a specified format. This bill would require that every state agency, when sending any communication to any recipient, state, in bolded font at the beginning of the communication, whether it requires action on the part of the recipient or serves as notice requiring no action.
If a vacancy on a school district governing board occurs, or if a resignation of a person on the school district governing board is filed with the county superintendent of schools containing a deferred effective date, existing law requires the school district governing board to, within 60 days of the vacancy or the deferred resignation filing, either order an election or make a provisional appointment of a person to fill the vacancy. Existing law requires, within 10 days of making a provisional appointment, the school district governing board to post a notice of the actual vacancy or the deferred resignation filing, the provisional appointment, and other specified statements in 3 public places in the school district, and, if a newspaper of general circulation is published in the school district, in that newspaper, as specified. This bill would require a school district governing board to also post the notice on the school district's internet website and would make nonsubstantive changes to the notice requirements described above. By imposing new duties on school districts, the bill would impose a state-mandated local program. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that, if the Commission on State Mandates determines that the bill contains costs mandated by the state, reimbursement for those costs shall be made pursuant to the statutory provisions noted above.
This measure would designate the week of January 30, 2022, to February 5, 2022, inclusive, as Physician Anesthesiologist Week.
This measure would declare that passengers in motor vehicles should be educated and encouraged to advocate for their own safety and the safety of others during National Passenger Safety Week, the week of January 23 to 29, 2022, inclusive.
The Nursing Practice Act provides for the licensure and regulation of nurses by the Board of Registered Nursing within the Department of Consumer Affairs. Existing law also requires the board to issue temporary or expedited licenses to specified applicants who hold a current, active, and unrestricted license in another state, district, or territory of the United States, in the profession or vocation for which the applicant seeks a license from the board. This bill would require the board to consult with the department no later than July 1, 2023, and develop recommendations for the implementation of the Nursys online license verification system for verifying the licenses of California nurses seeking to practice outside the state. The bill would require the board to implement those recommendations within a reasonable period.
