This measure would designate May 29, 2016, as 529 College Savings Day, to raise awareness about the importance of saving for college with the help of 529 college savings plans.
This measure would designate March 2016 as Irish American Heritage Month in honor of the multitude of contributions that Irish Americans have made to the country and state.
This measure would proclaim the month of May 2016, and every May thereafter, as California Travel and Tourism Month to celebrate the leadership of California's tourism industry in growing California's economy and improving the quality of life for all Californians.
This measure would designate the month of May 2016 as Bone Marrow Donation Awareness Month.
Existing law establishes the State Department of Public Health within the California Health and Human Services Agency. The department is vested with certain duties, powers, and responsibilities, including programs related to immunizations and communicable diseases. This bill would require the California Health and Human Services Agency to maintain a conspicuous link to federal resources related to vaccine injuries, including, but not limited to, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System and the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, on the agency's Internet Web site.
This measure would proclaim the month of May 2016 as Bladder Cancer Awareness Month.
This measure would designate the portion of Interstate 10 from the State Route 57 Interchange to the North Towne Avenue exit in the County of Los Angeles as the Pomona Police Officer Shaun Diamond Memorial Highway. The measure would also request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost of appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.
This measure would proclaim the month of February 2016 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and would encourage all Californians to observe Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month with programs and activities that raise awareness about teen dating violence.
This measure would recognize April 17, 2016, as World Hemophilia Day.
Existing law authorizes the formation of a seaport infrastructure financing district to finance port or harbor infrastructure projects. Existing law requires that a harbor agency, as defined, prepare an infrastructure financing plan as part of a proposal to form a seaport infrastructure financing district, and requires that the plan meet specified requirements. Existing law authorizes a seaport infrastructure financing district to fund infrastructure projects through tax increment financing, consistent with the infrastructure financing plan and with the agreement of the new seaport infrastructure financing district's affected taxing entities. Existing law, the Bergeson-Peace Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank Act, establishes the Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank within the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, and requires the bank to establish criteria, priorities, and guidelines for the selection of projects to receive financial assistance from the bank, including, but not limited to, any combination of grants, loans, and the proceeds of bonds issued by the bank. This bill would require the bank, after consulting with appropriate state and local agencies, to establish criteria, priorities, and guidelines for the selection of infrastructure development and equipment purchase projects submitted by harbor agencies, as defined, for assistance from the bank, as specified. The bill would require the harbor agency to adopt a resolution that includes specified information, including, among others, the state fiscal and economic impacts estimated to result from the proposed infrastructure development or equipment purchase project. The bill would require the bank to approve the infrastructure development and equipment purchase project if the bank finds that the project is more likely than not to result in the harbor agency's estimated state fiscal and economic impacts. The bill would authorize the bank to require the harbor agency to meet a specified condition prior to providing the moneys appropriated by the Legislature for the infrastructure development and equipment purchase project.
