This measure would declare the month of June 2023 as Alzheimer's Disease and Brain Awareness Month, recognize Wednesday, June 21, 2023, as The Longest Day, and would urge all Californians to commemorate the month of June 2023 as Alzheimer's Disease and Brain Awareness Month.
This measure would proclaim June 13 as Abused Women and Children Awareness Day.
This measure would recognize June 19, 2023, as Juneteenth and would urge the people of California to join in celebrating Juneteenth as a day to honor and reflect on the significant role that African Americans have played in the history of the United States and how they have enriched society through their steadfast commitment to promoting unity and equality.
This measure would declare the month of June 2023 to be Portuguese Heritage Month and would recognize June 10 as the Day of Portugal and May 29 as the Day of the Azores.
This measure would condemn Azerbaijan's blockade of the Republic of Artsakh and urge the United States government to take immediate action to assist the Armenians of Artsakh.
Existing law establishes the Department of Transportation and provides that the department has full possession and control of all state highways and all property and rights in property acquired for state highway purposes and authorizes and directs the department to lay out and construct all state highways between the termini designated by law and on the locations as determined by the commission. This bill would require the department to prepare a plan for adding caps to freeway segments that divide disadvantaged, underrepresented, urban communities, as specified. The bill would require the department to submit the plan to the Legislature by January 1, 2030. The bill would repeal these provisions on January 1, 2031.
This measure would proclaim and acknowledge the month of June 2023 as Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month in California and would reiterate the importance of annually recognizing Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Awareness Month in the state.
Existing law, the Dixon-Zenovich-Maddy California Arts Act of 1975, establishes the Arts Council, consisting of 11 appointed members, and sets forth its powers and duties, including providing for the exhibition of art works in public buildings throughout California. This bill would, in addition, require the council to employ strategies to achieve goals related to equity, community impact, artistic practice, and arts programs.
This measure would declare June 7, 2023, as California Nonprofits Day in recognition of the importance of nonprofit organizations to the economy and well-being of this state.
This measure would urge all schools to ensure that Asian American history and contributions are included in their curriculum, alongside those of other communities of color.
