This measure would proclaim March 23, 2016, as Pakistani American Day and would urge all Californians to join in celebrating Pakistani American Day.
This measure would declare February 19, 2016, as a Day of Remembrance in order to increase public awareness of the events surrounding the internment of Americans of Japanese ancestry during World War II.
Existing law establishes a workers' compensation system, administered by the Administrative Director of the Division of Workers' Compensation, to compensate an employee for injuries sustained in the course of his or her employment and provides that it is the intent of the Legislature that any use of the obsolete term "workmen's compensation" be replaced in the law with the term "workers' compensation." This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive changes to the above provision.
Existing law provides for the payment of unemployment compensation benefits to eligible individuals and specifies that an unemployed individual receiving those benefits who applies for a determination of potential eligibility for unemployment benefits, within a specified time period, is entitled to a training extension on his or her unemployment compensation claim to complete approved training, as specified. Existing law requires the Employment Development Department to inform all individuals who claim unemployment compensation benefits of this and other related information, as specified. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to this notification requirement.
Existing law establishes the Department of Insurance, headed by the Insurance Commissioner, which regulates insurers and insurance practices. Existing law provides that an insurer admitted to transact liability insurance is also deemed to be admitted to transact workers' compensation insurance for the purpose of covering an employee, as defined. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.
The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires a lead agency, as defined, to prepare, or cause to be prepared, and certify the completion of, an environmental impact report on a project that it proposes to carry out or approve that may have a significant effect on the environment or to adopt a negative declaration if it finds that the project will not have that effect. CEQA also requires a lead agency to prepare a mitigated negative declaration for a project that may have a significant effect on the environment if revisions in the project would avoid or mitigate that effect and there is no substantial evidence that the project, as revised, would have a significant effect on the environment. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.
Existing property tax law, in the case of any county taking over the responsibilities of an independent local health special district created pursuant to a specified statute, requires an increase in the allocation of state assistance payments, as defined, that are made to that county. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to this provision.
