This measure would declare the week of August 4, 2014, to August 10, 2014, inclusive, as Dropout Recovery Week, and would state that the Legislature intends to encourage the support of dropout recovery high schools with creative teaching strategies, alternative assessments, and adequate resources.
This measure would state that the Legislature supports and encourages the development and expansion of a California health care delivery system that identifies patient centered medical homes and is based upon certain principles of coordination of patient care.
This measure would urge the Governor to identify evidence-based solutions to reduce children's exposure to adverse childhood experiences, address the impacts of those experiences, and invest in preventive health care and mental health and wellness interventions.
This measure would acknowledge the history of the Chinese in California, recognize the contributions made to the State of California by Chinese Americans and Chinese immigrants, and apologize for past discriminatory laws and constitutional provisions that resulted in the persecution of Chinese living in California.
This measure would designate the portion of State Highway Route 710 between Pico Avenue and the Pacific Coast Highway in the City of Long Beach as the Senator Jenny Oropeza Memorial Freeway. The measure would also request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost of appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.
This measure would declare the 3rd week of September 2014, and the 3rd week of September in each subsequent year, as Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week.
Existing law, the County Water District Law, governs the operations of the Coachella Valley Water District. Existing law prohibits a person or local public agency from using, within the district's service area, water from any source that is suitable for potable domestic use for nonpotable uses for cemeteries, parks, highway landscaped areas, new industrial facilities, and golf course irrigation if the board of directors of the district determines that suitable nonpotable water is available, as specified, and other requirements are met. This bill would add the use of potable domestic water for landscaped common areas of residential developments maintained by a homeowner's association as a prohibited use if the board of directors of the district determines that suitable nonpotable water is available. This bill would make legislative findings and declarations as to the necessity of a special statute for the Coachella Valley Water District.
This measure would declare August 2014 as Valley Fever Awareness Month.
