This measure would urge all private and public universities in California, to the extent that they have not adopted free speech statements consistent with the principles articulated by the Chancellor of the University of California at Irvine, and the Free Expression Statement formally adopted by the University of Chicago, to consider such statements as a model for developing and adopting free speech statements.
This measure would urge the State Board of Education, county offices of education, and local school governing bodies to increase emphasis in their curricula on the bravery, sacrifice, and heroism of the United States and allied forces that engaged in military activity in the China-Burma-India Theater of World War II.
This measure would recognize the humane treatment of companion animals through the eradication of neglect and cruelty and the fostering of kindness and empathy toward companion animals as core principles of the State of California. The measure would encourage any formal declaration of a "sister state" relationship, or similar relationship, between the State of California and a foreign country, state, or city to emphasize those principles as core principles of the State of California. The measure would encourage all parties to the declaration to include in the declaration a joint commitment to promote the humane treatment of companion animals and promote kindness and empathy toward companion animals through laws, resolutions, and policies, and through the humane education of their people.
This measure would urge the state legislature and governor of each state to ratify the Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote so that the President and Vice President of the United States are directly elected by the popular vote of all eligible citizens of the United States.
This measure would call on California's Representatives in Congress to vote against cuts to, and proposals to privatize, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and would call on the President of the United States to veto any legislation to cut or privatize these programs.
This measure would urge policymakers in federal, state, and local government to work in cooperation with one another to modernize and streamline the processes that will enable rapid deployment of the small cell wireless infrastructure that supports 5G wireless networks and that will bring the many benefits of this important new technology to communities across California.
