Prisons: employment of inmates.

Existing law requires every able-bodied inmate to work as many hours of labor as shall be prescribed by the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Existing law provides that, upon release, an inmate shall be paid any sum they are due from such labor. This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes to that provision.

Oil and gas: chief deputy.

Existing law establishes the Geologic Energy Management Division in the Department of Conservation, under the direction of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, who is required to supervise the drilling, operation, maintenance, and abandonment of oil and gas wells, as provided. Existing law divides the state into districts and requires the supervisor to appoint one chief deputy for each of the districts. Existing law requires the chief deputy to be a competent engineer or geologist and experienced in the development and production of oil and gas. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to the law requiring the chief deputy to be a competent engineer or geologist and experienced in the development and production of oil and gas.

Approved nursing schools.

Existing law, the Nursing Practice Act, establishes the Board of Registered Nursing within the Department of Consumer Affairs and sets forth its powers and duties relating to the licensure and regulation of registered nurses. Existing law requires the board to prepare and maintain a list of approved schools of nursing within the state whose graduates are eligible to apply for a license to practice nursing. This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to those provisions.
