Relative to "Parks Make Life Better!®" Month.

This measure would recognize the importance of access to local parks, trails, open space, and facilities for the health, wellness, development, inspiration, and safety of all Californians and would declare the month of July 2023 as "Parks Make Life Better!®" Month.

Liability for opioid antagonist administration.

Existing law provides that a person who, in good faith and not for compensation, renders emergency medical or nonmedical care or assistance at the scene of an emergency is not liable for civil damages resulting from an act or omission other than an act or omission constituting gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct. This bill would provide that a person who, in good faith and not for compensation, renders emergency treatment at the scene of an opioid overdose or suspected opioid overdose by administering an opioid antagonist, as defined, is not liable for civil damages resulting from an act or omission, except as specified. The bill would also provide that a person who furnishes an opioid antagonist for use at the scene of an opioid overdose or suspected opioid overdose is not liable for civil damages resulting from an act or omission, except as specified.

Relative to atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).

This measure would express the Legislature's support for the creation of policies to decrease the rising number of deaths of Americans as a result of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) . The measure would declare the importance of enhanced public awareness of comprehensive cardiovascular screening programs to allow for earlier identification of patients at risk of cardiovascular events. The measure would also declare the importance of collaboration on statewide cardiovascular planning to accelerate quality improvements in care rendered to these patients.

Relative to Sikh genocide.

This measure would condemn the November 1984 anti-Sikh violence in India as genocide and would urge the United States Congress to formally recognize and condemn the November 1984 anti-Sikh violence in India as genocide.

Relative to the Scott "Buckshot" Schwingel Memorial Overcrossing.

This measure would designate the Ayala Drive overcrossing at postmile marker 17.437 on State Route 210 in the County of San Bernardino as the Scott "Buckshot" Schwingel Memorial Overcrossing. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the cost of appropriate signs showing this special designation and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering that cost, to erect those signs.
