Existing law, the Corporation Tax Law, provides for various exclusions from gross income in determining tax liability. This bill, for space transportation companies, would exclude from gross income any business income attributable to sources within this state, as specified, for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2017. This bill would take effect immediately as a tax levy.
This measure would designate specified portions of State Highway 183, State Highway 101, and State Highway 218, in the County of Monterey, as the United States Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Edward Balli Memorial Highway, the United States Army Specialist Ricardo Cerros, Jr. Memorial Highway, the United States Army Specialist Vilmar Galarza Hernandez Memorial Highway, the United States Army Sgt. Javier Sanchez Memorial Highway, and the United States Army Private First Class Conrado D. Javier Memorial Highway. The measure would request the Department of Transportation to determine the costs of appropriate signs showing each of these special designations and, upon receiving donations from nonstate sources covering those costs, to erect those signs.
This measure would designate February 21, 2018, and the 3rd Wednesday in February of each year thereafter, as California Ports Day.
Under existing law, the Public Utilities Commission has regulatory authority over public utilities, including water corporations. Existing law authorizes the commission to fix the rates and charges for every public utility and requires that those rates and charges be just and reasonable. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation reforming the rate of return earned by water corporations.
