This measure would designate the week of January 28, 2018, to February 3, 2018, inclusive, as Physician Anesthesiologist Week.

Existing law establishes in the Office of Emergency Services the thermal imaging equipment purchasing program and requires the office to acquire firefighting thermal imaging equipment on behalf of local and state agencies that are interested in obtaining this equipment. Existing law requires the director of the office to, among other things, notify all local and state agencies about the purchasing program, as specified, and determine whether those agencies are interested in obtaining thermal imaging equipment. This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to this provision.
Existing law establishes the California Community Colleges, under the administration of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, as one of the segments of public postsecondary education in this state. The board of governors appoints a chief executive officer known as the Chancellor of the California Community Colleges. Existing law establishes the Community College Completion Grant Program, under which each participating community college provides a grant award to students meeting specified requirements. Existing law requires the chancellor to report, on or before April 1, 2019, specified information regarding the number of grant award recipients under the program in various categories for the 2017–18 award year. This bill would change the deadline for submission of that report to April 15, 2019.
Existing law creates the California State Auditor's Office, which is independent of the executive branch and legislative control, to examine and report annually upon the financial statements prepared by the executive branch. The California Whistleblower Protection Act additionally authorizes the State Auditor to conduct an investigative audit upon receiving specific information that an employee or state agency has engaged in an improper governmental activity, as defined. The act does not apply to the Legislature or employees of the Legislature. The act requires the auditor to establish a means of submitting allegations of improper governmental activity, and generally requires the State Auditor to keep confidential every investigation, including all investigative files and work product. This bill would state the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation establishing an independent ombudsperson, under the jurisdiction of the State Auditor, to investigate allegations of sexual harassment in the Legislature, as specified.
Existing law requires the State Air Resources Board to adopt rules and regulations relating to vehicular emissions standards, as specified, that will achieve the ambient air quality standards required by federal law in conjunction with other measures adopted by the state board, air pollution control and air quality management districts, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Existing law requires the state board to adopt and enforce rules and regulations that anticipate the development of new technologies or the improvement of existing technologies if necessary to carry out its duty. This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to this provision.
