This measure would, among other things, honor the late civil rights pioneer and icon Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

This measure would proclaim January 27, 2022, as Rose Ann Vuich Recognition Day, in recognition of Senator Rose Ann Vuich as the first woman elected to the California State Senate, to honor Senator Vuich's service to the Senate, and to appropriately reflect the Senator's stature and legacy.
This measure would proclaim the month of February 2022 as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and would call upon the people of California to observe the month with programs and activities that raise awareness about the dynamics of teen dating violence and that support youth in learning the skills to have safe and healthy relationships.
Existing law creates the Department of Insurance, headed by the Insurance Commissioner, which regulates insurers and insurance practices. Existing law authorizes domestic incorporated insurers to invest their assets in specified securities or loans upon those securities. Existing law requires admitted insurers with annual premiums written in California equal to or in excess of $100,000 to provide information to the commissioner on their community development investments, community development infrastructure investments, and green investments in California. This bill would require an admitted insurer, on or before January 1, 2024, and on or before each January 1 thereafter, to disclose its investments in fossil fuel-related entities and the fossil fuel companies and projects it underwrites or otherwise insures. The bill would require the department to publish that information on its internet website on or before April 1, 2024, and on or before each April 1 thereafter.
Existing law creates the Department of Insurance to regulate the business of insurance. Existing law generally regulates classes of insurance, including homeowners' insurance. Existing law prohibits an insurer, for one year after the declaration of a state of emergency, from canceling or refusing to renew a residential property insurance policy solely because the property is in an area in which a wildfire occurred. This bill would require an admitted insurer licensed to issue homeowners' insurance policies to issue a policy to a homeowner who has hardened their home against fire, as specified, regardless of the home's location, on and after January 1, 2025, and would require an insurer to make conforming changes to its internet website and print materials on or before July 1, 2025. The bill would create the Wildfire Protection Grant Program, under which the department would be required to award grants of up to $10,000 each to help homeowners pay for costs associated with wildfire mitigation improvements. The bill would require the department to promulgate regulations to administer the Wildfire Protection Grant Program.
This measure would recognize February 7, 2022, to February 11, 2022, as National School Counseling Week.
This measure would designate the week of January 30, 2022, to February 5, 2022, inclusive, as Physician Anesthesiologist Week.
This measure would declare that passengers in motor vehicles should be educated and encouraged to advocate for their own safety and the safety of others during National Passenger Safety Week, the week of January 23 to 29, 2022, inclusive.
