S 3435: National Heritage Area Authority Extension Act of 2021

National Heritage Area Authority Extension Act of 2021 This bill extends through FY2036 the authority for, and increases the amount that may be appropriated for, various national heritage areas. The bill also extends through FY2036 (1) the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission, and (2) the Gullah/Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor Commission. Further, the deadline is extended for the completion of proposed management plans for certain national heritage areas.

Composite Standards Act of 2021 This bill directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology to (1) implement the recommendations in a specified report to help facilitate the adoption of composite technology in infrastructure, and (2) conduct a pilot program to assess the feasibility and advisability of adopting such technology in sustainable infrastructure.

S 3430: Coal Council Certainty Act of 2021

Coal Council Certainty Act of 2021 This bill requires the Department of Energy (DOE) to reinstate the National Coal Council (NCC), which provided DOE with advice and guidance about policies concerning coal until its charter expired in November 2021. The bill permanently extends the NCC's original charter and thus prevents the reinstated council from expiring.

HR 6324: Saving America's Future by Educating Kids Act of 2021

Saving America's Future by Educating Kids Act of 2021 This bill directs the Department of Education (ED) to develop and support implementation of an evidence-based, K-12 curriculum on the dangers of substances of misuse, including opioids, vaping, and synthetic drugs. ED must review and update the curriculum every two years. ED must award grants to state educational agencies to implement the evidence-based curriculum. In awarding these grants, ED must give priority to those states that have experienced the highest drug overdose death rates.

Department of Defense Principal Cyber Advisor Empowerment Act of 2021 This bill requires specified cyber officials in the Department of Defense to be designated from among the personnel of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. The bill applies to the officer to serve as Principal Cyber Advisor and the officer to serve concurrently as the Senior Military Advisor for Cyber Policy and as the Deputy Principal Cyber Advisor.
