Virginia Fair Housing Law; unlawful discriminatoryhousing practices; sexual orientation and gender identity. Addsdiscrimination on the basis of an individual's sexual orientationor gender identity as an unlawful housing practice. The bill defines"sexual orientation" and "gender identity." This bill was incorporatedinto HB 1663.

Housing; extension of approvals to address crisis.

Extension of approvals to address housing crisis. Extends the sunset date for several measures related to various landuse approvals from July 1, 2020, to July 1, 2023. The bill also expandsthe scope of such measures that will be subject to the extensionto include those measures approved by January 1, 2020.

Handguns; leaving unattended in public, penalty.

Leaving an unattended handgun in public; penalty.Makes it a Class 3 misdemeanor for a person to leave an unattendedhandgun in public view in any public place, including any public building or place where the public assemble, any street, highway,or other public conveyance, or any sidewalk abutting on any publicstreet, alley, or lane of any town or city. The bill also providesthat a second or subsequent violation is punishable as a Class 2misdemeanor.

Hampton Roads Coastal Resiliency Authority; created.

Hampton Roads Coastal Resiliency Authority.Creates the Hampton Roads Coastal Resiliency Authority (the Authority) as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth. The Authority mayby ordinance consist of any locality that makes up the membershipof the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission and is createdfor the purpose of serving as a regional leader, resource, and partnerfor all issues related to coastal flooding and resiliency. The billshall not become effective date until participating localities comprising two-thirds of the population of the Hampton Roads Planning Districthave elected to join the Authority.
