Replaces references to election of certain city officers with references to appointment of such officers and deletes a reference to viva voce voting. The bill removes a provision requiring ordinances to be published in a newspaper of general circulation within 10 days after passage and outdated and duplicative provisions related to claims for property destroyed in a fire. Retention of case records; electronic format.
Allows the clerk of a district court to destroy the papers, records, and documents in civil and criminal cases after the case has ended if such papers, records, and documents have been microfilmed or converted to an electronic format. Under current law, such records can be destroyed after three years. Current law exceptions for records with administrative, fiscal, historical, or legal value and records for certain specified misdemeanors are retained.
