Drinking water; maximum contaminant levels, water treatment systems.

Drinking water; maximum contaminant levels;water treatment systems; Rural Water Supply Program and Fund established. Directs the State Board of Health to adopt regulations to utilizepoint-of-use or point-of-entry drinking water treatment or filtrationto remove or significantly reduce concentrations of contaminantsof concern that meet or exceed any maximum contaminant level orhealth advisory for the same contaminant adopted by the U.S. EnvironmentalProtection Agency. The bill also establishes the Rural Water SupplyProgram and Fund to allow the Department of Health's Office of DrinkingWater to test and treat contaminated drinking water for individualson private wells and small rural public water systems.

Virginia Retirement System; enhanced retirementbenefits for animal control officers. Adds animal control officersto the list of local employees eligible to receive enhanced retirementbenefits for hazardous duty service. Under current law, localitiesmay provide such benefits to first responders, including firefightersand emergency medical technicians, and certain other hazardous dutypositions.The bill has a delayed effective date of July 1, 2025, andprovides that such membership would apply only to service earned onor after July 1, 2025.

Emergency medical services for police dogs.

Emergency medical services regulations; police dogs. Requires the State Board of Health to promulgate regulations, in consultation with the State Veterinarian, to provide emergency treatment to police dogs injured in the line of duty and for the transportation of such police dogs by emergency medical services vehicles to veterinary care facilities equipped to provide emergency treatment to such dogs.
