Braeden's Commission: Protect our Athletes from Exertional Heat Stroke This bill establishes the Commission to Prevent Heat Stroke Deaths. The commission shall conduct a study on exertional heat stroke among student athletes at educational institutions across the United States, develop recommendations for the purpose of reducing fatalities from exertional heat stroke among student athletes and guidelines for tracking information to prevent such fatalities, and report to the President and Congress. A federal agency or department that is subject to a recommendation described in the report shall submit to Congress a report containing the agency's plans to address the recommendation.
This resolution supports the work of the United States African Development Foundation as it creates pathways to prosperity for underserved communities on the African continent through community-led development, and it commits to continue supporting the work of the foundation as an independent agency.
Performing Artist Tax Parity Act of 2021 This bill modifies the tax deduction for the expenses of performing artists (including commissions paid to managers or agents) to provide for a phaseout of such deduction for taxpayers whose adjusted gross income exceeds $100,000 ($200,000 for joint return filers). The $100,000 phaseout threshold is adjusted for inflation annually for taxable years beginning after 2021.
Passport Emergency Extension Act of 2021 This bill requires the Department of State to establish an expedited procedure for providing individuals who wish to use their U.S. passport that expired during the COVID-19 emergency (or that is scheduled to expire by March 31, 2022) with a marker to be affixed to such passport indicating a renewal or extension of validity through July 31, 2022.
United States Call Center Worker and Consumer Protection Act of 2021 This bill establishes restrictions on businesses that relocate call centers or redirect customer service calls to locations outside the United States. Specifically, a business must notify the Department of Labor that it intends to move its customer service call center overseas and Labor must maintain a publicly available list of such businesses. Subject to narrow exceptions, a business appearing on such list is ineligible to receive federal grants or guaranteed loans for five years after the business is added to the list. Further, agencies must condition the awarding of government contracts on the requirement that any call center activity pursuant to the contract must be performed in the United States. Additionally, the bill requires call center employees to disclose their physical location at the beginning of each call initiated or received, unless all employees of the business participating in the communication are located in the United States, among other exceptions.

Desert Locust Control Act This bill requires the President to establish an interagency working group to (1) coordinate the U.S. response to the ongoing desert locust outbreak in the East Africa region and its impact on food security and political stability, including in the context of restrictions relating to COVID-19 (i.e., coronavirus disease 2019); (2) review the effectiveness of regional and multilateral efforts to eradicate the desert locust outbreak; and (3) develop and implement a plan to control the desert locust outbreak.
