DAIRY PRIDE Act

Maddy summaryThe DAIRY PRIDE Act aims to amend the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to establish a specific definition for "dairy product." This bill directly affects food manufacturers and consumers by regulating how certain food names can be used. It defines a "dairy product" as food that is, contains as a primary ingredient, or is derived from, the lacteal secretion of hooved mammals. The act prohibits foods that do not meet this definition, or the requirements for an imitation food, from using names for standardized dairy products (like milk, yogurt, and cheese) in interstate commerce. Additionally, it requires the FDA to issue guidance on enforcement of these provisions and report to Congress on actions taken.

Equal Representation Act of 2025

Equal Representation Act This bill requires that the statement sent by the President to Congress after the decennial census indicating the number of persons in each state exclude noncitizens. (This statement is the basis for reapportionment of U.S. Representatives.) The bill also requires any questionnaire used in the decennial census to include a checkbox or other similar option for respondents to indicate whether the respondent and each household member is (1) a U.S. citizen, (2) a U.S. national but not a citizen, (3) a non-U.S. national ( alien under federal law) lawfully residing in the United States, or (4) a non-U.S. national unlawfully residing in the United States. The Department of Commerce must make public the number of persons in each state, disaggregated by each of these four categories.

Form 990 Immigrant Resettlement Schedule Act

Maddy summaryThis bill, the Form 990 Immigrant Resettlement Schedule Act, requires certain tax-exempt organizations to report additional information on their annual Form 990 filings. It directly affects organizations that assist non-citizens with lawful resettlement or relocation into the United States. These organizations would need to disclose the aggregate number of non-citizens they assist with resettlement, the aggregate number assisted with federal benefit program enrollment, and the nature of their involvement. The bill clarifies that no individually identifiable information is required, and the Secretary of the Treasury must annually transmit an aggregate statistical report based on this data to Congress.

Expressing support for tax policies that support working families.

Maddy summaryThis resolution expresses support for the Working Families Tax Cuts, a law already enacted in July 2025 that provides various tax benefits to American taxpayers. The bill directly affects individuals and families by recognizing specific provisions that reduce tax liability, including expanded child tax credits, increased standard deductions, and tax relief for tipped workers and overtime pay. Key provisions include making a four-person household earning under $73,000 generally face zero federal income tax, increasing the child tax credit to $2,200 per child, and allowing 529 accounts to cover K-12 and trade school expenses. The resolution also acknowledges tax relief for seniors, auto loan interest deductions for American-made vehicles, and expanded health savings account access. This is a procedural measure that formally acknowledges existing tax policies rather than creating new legislation.

ALERT Act

Maddy summaryThe ALERT Act (HR 7613) requires the Federal Aviation Administration to improve aviation safety through several key measures. It mandates the evaluation and potential implementation of enhanced collision avoidance systems (ACAS-Xa) for commercial aircraft and ACAS-Xr for rotorcraft, with specific deadlines for rulemaking and installation. The bill establishes committees to develop recommendations for safety technology requirements, requires safety risk assessments for air traffic controllers, and addresses operational procedures at high-traffic airports like Ronald Reagan Washington National. These provisions affect air carriers, air traffic controllers, rotorcraft operators, and Department of Defense aircraft operations. The act aims to enhance situational awareness and reduce midair collision risks through technology upgrades and improved safety protocols.

Fertilizer Transparency Act of 2026

Maddy summaryThis bill requires fertilizer manufacturers and wholesalers to report weekly prices and quantities of nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and fertilizer products to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The reporting must distinguish between domestic and foreign sources while exempting agricultural cooperatives and non-manufacturer retailers from mandatory requirements, though they may voluntarily provide data. The Secretary of Agriculture will make this information publicly available on a weekly basis through a dashboard that aggregates data to protect confidential business details. A separate retail survey program will supplement manufacturer reports with regional price estimates, and the Secretary must review reporting requirements every two years to ensure they remain accurate. The legislation explicitly states that these reporting requirements do not override existing antitrust laws.

USDA Express Loan Act of 2026

Maddy summaryHR 7426, the USDA Express Loan Act of 2026, streamlines the application and approval process for USDA-guaranteed farm loans. It requires a simplified application form for real estate and operating loans under $1 million and mandates that the USDA approve or disapprove complete applications within 5 business days. The bill also sets new guarantee caps: 90% for loans up to $125,000, 75% for $125,000-$500,000, and 50% for $500,000-$1 million. Additionally, it creates an accelerated process for business and industry loans under $400,000 (up to $600,000 with low default risk) to assist rural businesses. This directly affects farmers, ranchers, and rural businesses seeking USDA-guaranteed loans through participating lenders.
