Supporting the designation of the week of June 14 through June 21, 2026, as "National Men's Health Week".

Maddy summaryThis bill is a resolution that formally recognizes the week of June 14 through June 21, 2026, as National Men's Health Week. It does not create new laws or change federal funding but instead encourages the President to issue a proclamation asking the public and organizations to observe the week with awareness events. The measure highlights statistics on men's health disparities, such as lower life expectancy and higher rates of certain diseases, to emphasize the importance of preventive care and early detection. By promoting these health goals, the resolution aims to encourage men to seek medical checkups and adopt healthier lifestyles without altering any existing policies.

Allied Defense Sales Act

Maddy summaryThis bill requires the Secretary of State to develop a strategy encouraging foreign nations to jointly purchase defense equipment and services from the United States. The legislation mandates the government to identify lead buyers, address licensing challenges, and explore ways to speed up approval processes for these shared procurement efforts. Officials must submit regular reports to Congress every six months for three years, detailing the strategy's progress and any obstacles encountered. The policy aims to streamline how the U.S. sells defense articles to a lead nation who then distributes them to other allied partners under specific agreements.

Florida Freeze Disaster Assistance Act of 2026

Maddy summaryThis bill appropriates $3.5 billion to help Florida farmers and growers recover from the severe freeze that occurred in March 2026. The funds are distributed as block grants specifically to cover losses in crops, trees, bushes, and vines caused by the cold weather, including compensation for multi-year crops. Assistance is restricted to counties officially designated as disaster areas by the Secretary of Agriculture on March 4, 2026, and requires a request from a state agriculture department to release the money. The Secretary of Agriculture must also submit quarterly reports to Congress detailing how the funds are being used until the budget is exhausted.

Medal of Sacrifice Act

Medal of Sacrifice Act of 2025 This act directs the President to issue a medal of sacrifice for eligible law enforcement officers and first responders who are killed in the line of duty. The act also directs the President to establish a commission on the medal of sacrifice and appoint its members. The act sets forth responsibilities of the commission, including to advise on the design of the medal and determine how the medal will be presented. Under the act, eligible law enforcement officers and first responders include federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial law enforcement officers or first responders who are not subject to an official act of wrongdoing (e.g., a determination that the officer or first responder acted outside the scope of their duties or in a manner that was not in accordance with official policies or procedures). A law enforcement officer or first responder who is subject to an official act of wrongdoing is generally not eligible for the medal of sacrifice. However, in the case of such an officer or first responder, the act requires the commission to investigate the circumstances surrounding the officer or first responder's cause of death and issue a final determination on their eligibility.

Provider Reimbursement Stability Act of 2026

Maddy summaryThis bill, the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act of 2026, aims to create more predictable payment adjustments for physicians and other healthcare providers under the Medicare program. It directly affects medical practices and providers who receive reimbursement for services through the physician fee schedule. The legislation increases a threshold for certain budget neutrality calculations from $20 million to $54.3 million in 2027, with automatic increases every five years thereafter. It also requires the government to correct payment estimates when actual service usage differs significantly from projections, mandates regular updates to cost calculations for practice expenses, and limits how much Medicare payment rates can change from year to year to a maximum of 2.5 percent.

Enhancing CLIA Act of 2026

Maddy summaryThis bill, the Enhancing CLIA Act of 2026, updates federal regulations to strictly govern laboratory-developed tests used for diagnosing or treating patients. Starting two years after enactment, laboratories must prove these tests are accurate and reliable by providing documented evidence of their performance and clinical validity before they can be used. The law creates a centralized online database where labs must report details about their tests and establishes a system for third parties, including the FDA, to review and affirm that tests meet safety standards. Additionally, the bill requires labs to immediately report any test errors that cause serious harm or death and mandates regular public forums and periodic reviews to ensure regulations keep pace with scientific advancements.

Servicemember Payment Data Privacy and Security Act

Maddy summaryThis bill requires the Department of Defense to review and eventually ban contracts with retailers that use payment processing systems from specific countries deemed a national security risk, such as China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Effective January 1, 2027, the Defense Department will be prohibited from entering into agreements for payment equipment or services if those tools rely on technology developed, owned, or controlled by entities in these nations. The law defines covered systems broadly to include hardware, software, and firmware linked to these countries, aiming to prevent potential foreign access to sensitive military financial data. Retailers wishing to continue working with the Department of Defense must replace their payment processing infrastructure with systems that do not involve these restricted technologies.

Reaffirming congressional support for the Taiwan Relations Act and longstanding bipartisan Taiwan policy.

Maddy summaryThis resolution reaffirms the House of Representatives' support for the Taiwan Relations Act and longstanding bipartisan U.S. policy toward Taiwan. It highlights key provisions such as maintaining commercial and cultural ties, emphasizing regional peace, and providing Taiwan with defensive arms. The document also reiterates the Six Assurances, which clarify that the U.S. does not set a date for ending arms sales, will not mediate between Taiwan and China, and will not pressure Taiwan to negotiate with China. By restating these principles, the bill aims to reinforce the current framework without introducing new legal obligations or changing existing policy.
