Child Care for American Families Act

Child Care for American Families Act  This bill increases and revises the employer-provided child care tax credit. It increases the rate of such credit from 25% to 40% (50% for certain small businesses and 60% for child care facilities located in an eligible census track). The bill increases the limitation on the dollar amount of the credit to $1.2 million in any taxable year and imposes a $2 million limit on the aggregate amount of child care expenditures that may be taken into account for purposes of calculating the credit.  The bill directs the Internal Revenue Service to issue guidance regarding multi-employer facilities and to establish a public awareness program to inform taxpayers about the availability of the child care credit and filing procedures for such credit.

Access to Pediatric Technologies Act of 2024

Maddy summaryThis bill creates a process for establishing Medicare payment rates for pediatric medical devices. It requires the Secretary to set national payment rates (relative value units) for qualifying pediatric technologies upon manufacturer request, using available data like pricing and claims information. Manufacturers must submit requests by May 1 each year to have rates established for the following year's Medicare physician fee schedule. The bill specifically targets devices already covered under Medicare, approved by the FDA, and designed for pediatric use, without changing existing coverage requirements.

Hello Girls Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2024

Maddy summaryThis bill authorizes a Congressional Gold Medal to honor the "Hello Girls" - 223 women who served as Army Signal Corps telephone operators in WWI. They connected 26 million calls in France, worked 12-hour shifts under combat conditions, and were denied veteran benefits for 60 years despite wearing uniforms and facing combat hazards. The medal recognizes their pioneering military service, devotion to duty, and the decades-long struggle for recognition as soldiers. It directs the Treasury to strike the medal and place it in the Smithsonian for public display at institutions like the National WWI Museum.

Choices for Increased Mobility Act of 2024

Maddy summaryThis bill requires Medicare to create separate billing codes for ultralightweight manual wheelchairs based on their frame material (specifically distinguishing titanium/carbon fiber frames from other materials), effective January 1, 2025. It allows Medicare beneficiaries to purchase or rent upgraded titanium/carbon fiber wheelchairs after that date, with suppliers permitted to charge the difference between the standard wheelchair Medicare rate and the upgraded wheelchair's fair market value. Suppliers must provide an advance beneficiary notice explaining potential out-of-pocket costs before the sale or rental. The bill directly affects Medicare beneficiaries using manual wheelchairs and wheelchair suppliers who bill Medicare.
