Maddy summaryThis bill directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to conduct a study on barriers that prevent patients from accessing pain management during gynecologic procedures. The study will examine factors such as insurance coverage, provider training, and resource availability, and will include input from patients, medical professionals, and health equity experts. Within 24 months of enactment, the Secretary must submit a report with findings and recommendations to relevant congressional committees. The bill does not change current laws or funding but establishes a research requirement to inform future policy decisions.

Maddy summaryThis bill would create a federal paid leave program allowing employees to take up to 96 hours of paid time off each year for reproductive health needs, including menstrual care, endometriosis, fertility treatments, and pregnancy-related procedures. It applies to private employers with at least five employees and certain government workers, requiring employers to grant this leave upon request without requiring employees to find replacements during their absence. The legislation prohibits retaliation against employees who use this leave and establishes enforcement mechanisms through the Department of Labor, including civil penalties for violations. Employers with existing paid leave policies that already cover these reproductive health reasons would not need to provide additional leave under this bill.
Maddy summaryThis bill directs the National Institutes of Health to expand research into Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, a severe mood and physical condition affecting 5 to 8 percent of women and people assigned female at birth. It requires the agency to collect data on PMDD prevalence, economic impact, and treatment barriers while ensuring diverse populations are included in studies. The legislation also funds public awareness campaigns and grants to train healthcare professionals in diagnosing and treating the condition. Additionally, the bill mandates a report to Congress within two years detailing progress on research, education, and access to care.
Maddy summaryThis concurrent resolution expresses support for International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day established in 2009 to honor the transgender community and raise awareness of the discrimination and violence they face. The bill encourages the House of Representatives and the American public to observe this day with ceremonies and activities while recognizing the accomplishments and leadership of transgender individuals. It acknowledges ongoing challenges such as employment discrimination, healthcare restrictions, and anti-transgender legislation, while also highlighting the community's contributions to politics, culture, and civil rights. As a concurrent resolution, it does not create new laws or regulations but serves as an official statement of congressional support for the day's goals and ideals.
Maddy summaryThe GUARDRAILS Act (HR 8031) repeals the December 11, 2025 Executive Order on Artificial Intelligence, which previously established a national policy framework for AI development. By removing this executive order, the bill prevents the federal government from using funds to implement, enforce, or administer the policies outlined in that directive. This change directly affects federal agencies and any organizations that were relying on the executive order's framework for AI regulation. The legislation does not create new AI rules but instead eliminates the existing executive mandate that had been in place.
Maddy summaryThis bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to cover abortion care, counseling, and related medication as part of standard hospital and medical services for eligible veterans and certain dependents. It amends VA healthcare law to explicitly include these services under existing coverage for veterans qualifying under section 1703 and dependents eligible under section 1781(a). The policy directly affects veterans and their dependents enrolled in VA healthcare programs by expanding covered benefits to include abortion-related care. This is a concrete policy change to VA healthcare benefits, not a broader abortion law.
Governing Unaccredited Representatives Defrauding VA Benefits Act or the GUARD VA Benefits Act This bill imposes fines on individuals for soliciting, contracting for, charging, or receiving any unauthorized fee or compensation with respect to the preparation, presentation, or prosecution of any claim for Department of Veterans Affairs benefits. The attempted commission of such offenses is also punishable by fine.
Enhanced Iran Sanctions Act of 2025 This bill imposes sanctions on certain foreign persons (individuals and entities) that are involved in Iran's petroleum sector as well as certain associated persons. The bill also requires or authorizes actions to facilitate the enforcement of sanctions on Iran. Specifically, the bill requires the President to impose visa- and property-blocking sanctions on any foreign person that, after the bill's enactment, knowingly engages in any transaction related to the processing, export, or sale of oil, condensates, gas, liquefied natural gas, or other petrochemical products in whole or in part from Iran. The President must also impose sanctions on certain foreign persons associated with a sanctioned individual or entity. For example, the President must sanction the subsidiaries and corporate officers of a sanctioned business. The bill provides certain exceptions to these sanctions, including specifying that sanctions do not apply to the importation of goods or to conducting or facilitating transactions for humanitarian assistance. The Department of State must establish an interagency working group that shall seek to establish a multilateral contact group to coordinate international efforts to enforce sanctions on Iran. The bill expands the State Department rewards program to authorize a reward payment to any individual who furnishes information leading to the identification of a person (1) subject to sanctions under this bill, or (2) that has attempted or is attempting to evade sanctions under this bill.
Maddy summaryThis bill grants the Secretary of Homeland Security the authority to move unspent money between different accounts within the department during a government funding shutdown. The provision specifically allows transfers of funds from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to other DHS accounts, but prohibits moving money to the Office of the Secretary, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or Customs and Border Protection. Additionally, the bill prevents the use of transferred funds to hire new employees during a lapse in appropriations. This measure aims to provide flexibility in managing existing resources while maintaining restrictions on certain departments and hiring activities.
Maddy summaryHRES 1107 is a House resolution urging the President to issue a proclamation flying the U.S. flag at half-staff to honor Rev. Jesse Jackson. The resolution recognizes his civil rights leadership, including founding the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and his presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988, which advanced racial equality and economic justice. This symbolic gesture directly affects the President (as the one who would issue the proclamation) and the public, who would observe the flag at half-staff.
